The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Raymun Taylor struck a weak shot in the 5th minute. Bean Horgan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gortnasate. After 9 minutes, Donelle Scully mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hilltown and the Gortnasate players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Hilltown's Donelle Scully got a free kick in the 9th minute. If Baran Silke had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Brenan Cassin fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gortnasate's protests and gave Brenan Cassin a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Hilltown booed when Gortnasate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brenan Cassin didn't get a good kick on the ball. 14 minutes into the game, Hilltown's Peyton McAlphie nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Bradagain Lavine made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Bradagain Lavine showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Peyton McAlphie in the 18th minute of the match. Peyton McAlphie took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bradagain Lavine. Bradagain Lavine dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. If Brendon McLiam had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Raymun Taylor sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 30 minutes into the match, Gortnasate's goal looked a bit too open when Derrick Delaney came free, but Bradagain Lavine reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Hilltown booed when Gortnasate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ardán Lester didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bradagain Lavine showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Peyton McAlphie, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. Gortnasate's Bradagain Lavine played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Derrick Delaney in the 36th minute of play. Raymun Taylor's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 38thth minute, Bean Horgan skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. During the 38th minute of the match Donelle Scully completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Donelle Scully a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 39th minute, Donelle Scully hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bean Horgan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brendon McLiam in the 47th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Raymun Taylor to strike the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Tierney Myler managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hilltown's supporters rose to their feet, but Tierney Myler was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bradagain Lavine breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Brendon McLiam sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 61st minute, Derrick Delaney fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Bradagain Lavine, passed just outside the right post. When Peyton McAlphie fell near the penalty area in the 64th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Hilltown's protests and gave Peyton McAlphie a yellow card for diving instead. In the 64th match minute, Hilltown was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Peyton McAlphie to maneuver through the defense. 65 minutes in the game, Baran Silke dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Bradagain Lavine made an important save on a dangerous shot by Derrick Delaney in the 69th minute. 71 minutes into the match, Gortnasate's goalkeeper Bradagain Lavine had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Derrick Delaney. After 71 played minutes Gortnasate got a freekick which was hit by Beamard Cronin. The audience thought a goal was coming when Derrick Delaney got free with Bradagain Lavine in the 73rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 74th minute, Brendon McLiam made a precise shot to the right of Bean Horgan. Hilltown's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. When Peyton McAlphie was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 78 minutes had been played. After a rather tough play, Hilltown's Peyton McAlphie got a free kick in the 79th minute. If Brendon McLiam had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ultan McLian hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. In the 84th minute Brendon McLiam shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bean Horgan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Raymun Taylor hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Raymun Taylor in the 87th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bean Horgan prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Gortnasate's Brendon McLiam in the 90th minute got a chance for a shot 90th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Hilltown's goalie prevented a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raymun Taylor in the 96th minute of play forced Hilltown's goalkeeper Bean Horgan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Gortnasate manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Hilltown to win.
