In the 10th minute, Paul McIan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bean Horgan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cacey Robinson in the 11th minute. Brenan McBjarton hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Derrick Delaney in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bealtaine Taylor prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Bealtaine Taylor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Peyton McAlphie in the 25th minute of the match. Paul McIan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bean Horgan having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Paul McIan in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bean Horgan saved Hilltown from getting behind. A collision led to Colnamona Utd getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Tomás McFrank hit a great ball. After recieving a nice pass, Hilltown's Bannon McCready tried to score from far away in the 33rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 39th minute, Hilltown's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Paul McIan fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Paul McIan's late challenge caught a Hilltown's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Paul McIan helped the player get up and apologised. Paul McIan hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Peyton McAlphie in the 41st minute of play forced Colnamona Utd's goalkeeper Bealtaine Taylor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Donald Byrne kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. In the 45th minute, Brenan McBjarton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Bannon McCready came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Hilltown fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bannon McCready couldn't finish the play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Paul McIan to strike the kick off in the second half. Bean Horgan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cacey Robinson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Derrick Delaney got free with Bealtaine Taylor in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 62nd minute Peyton McAlphie suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. When Dermod Todd fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Colnamona Utd's protests and gave Dermod Todd a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Colnamona Utd getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. When Cacey Robinson came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Colnamona Utd fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cacey Robinson couldn't finish the play. 77 minutes into the match, Donelle Scully notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Colnamona Utd's Bealtaine Taylor. Bealtaine Taylor was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 84 minutes into the match, Colnamona Utd's goal looked a bit too open when Donelle Scully came free, but Bealtaine Taylor reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Colnamona Utd booed when Hilltown was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tierney Myler didn't get a good kick on the ball. Colnamona Utd's Paul McIan got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Hilltown players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
