When Binean Silke fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gortnasate's protests and gave Binean Silke a yellow card for diving instead. In the 4th minute, Binean Silke hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 5 minutes into the match, Arnold Doherty sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Bradagain Lavine threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Arnold Doherty this time. 12 minutes into the match, Knocksquire's goal looked a bit too open when Raymun Taylor came free, but Herne McSteven reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Beamard Cronin kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. In the 15th minute of the match, Richard McAaron tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Bradagain Lavine saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. When Binean Silke was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 16 minutes had been played. After 17 played minutes Gortnasate got a freekick which was hit by Binean Silke. The audience thought a goal was coming when Brenda Rutherford got free with Bradagain Lavine in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 21 minutes into the game, Baran Silke cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Herne McSteven was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 26 minutes into the match, Knocksquire's goal looked a bit too open when Brendon McLiam came free, but Herne McSteven reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Richard McAaron fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bradagain Lavine having to interfere. Herne McSteven showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Brendon McLiam in the 34th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Knocksquire's Richard McAaron got a free kick in the 40th minute. Brendon McLiam might have been able to make a better finish in the 44th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Herne McSteven. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Brendon McLiam ran back to his position shaking his head. When Brendon McLiam fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gortnasate's protests and gave Brendon McLiam a yellow card for diving instead. After 45 played minutes Gortnasate got a freekick which was hit by Brendon McLiam. Gortnasate's Bradagain Lavine proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 46th minute of the match, managed to save Gortnasate from getting a goal against them. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

A collision led to Gortnasate getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Bantry Murphy hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Richard McAaron in the 55th minute of play forced Gortnasate's goalkeeper Bradagain Lavine to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Brendon McLiam had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 63 minutes into the match, Gortnasate's goal looked a bit too open when Richard McAaron came free, but Bradagain Lavine reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bradagain Lavine came out of the goal in the 64th minute to try and stop a shot by Knocksquire's Richard McAaron. But to his dismay, Richard McAaron quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. In the 69th minute, Gortnasate's Brendon McLiam dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-3. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Brenda Rutherford in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bradagain Lavine saved Gortnasate from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Knocksquire's Donald McJohn got a free kick in the 73rd minute. The audience was convinced that Baran Silke's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Herne McSteven was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. Knocksquire's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Arnold Doherty in the 83rd minute. Knocksquire's Herne McSteven played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brendon McLiam in the 92nd minute of play. In the 93rd match minute, Knocksquire was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Donald McJohn to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Knocksquire booed when Gortnasate was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ardán Lester didn't get a good kick on the ball. Samueil Gillmour took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 98th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Bradagain Lavine. Gortnasate's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The Knocksquire fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Gortnasate were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
