Lavally's Donagh Walker got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Lavally's Boland Grant got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 36 minutes, Donagh Walker put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Joseph McLian. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Doney Taylor to make the kick off. After having played for 52 minutes, Boland Grant managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lavally's supporters crossed their fingers, but Boland Grant was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Donagh Walkers short, quick shot in the 53rdth minute got Joseph McLian to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Joseph McLian made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Donagh Walker sent off a good shot on target. Lavally's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lismore FC the free kick. In the 70th match minute, Lavally was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Barr Beckett to maneuver through the defense. In the 72nd minute Berrigan McVictor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aban McFrancise saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Boland Grant in the 89th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Joseph McLian prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Boland Grant's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joseph McLian read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 90th minute of play. 95 minutes into the match, Lavally's Donagh Walker sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Joseph McLian narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The Lismore FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Lavally were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
