The audience was convinced that Colm Callaghan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Reginald Ryan was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. Ravan Ramsey fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brigid Martyn having to interfere. Reginald Ryan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Colm Callaghan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 32nd minute, Dónal Scully hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 42nd minute of the match Bragain Holt shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Brigid Martyn showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 43 minutes into the match, Pierson Palmer had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Reginald Ryan. Clontarf's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Pierson Palmer was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After a defensive mix-up in Clontarf's zone, Pierson Palmer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Reginald Ryan came out of the goal and Pierson Palmer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ravan Ramsey to make the kick off. In the 51st minute, Banan Caffrey ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Brigid Martyn was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Lack's Brigid Martyn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dugan McWillie in the 56th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 57 minutes, Ravan Ramsey put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Brigid Martyn. In the 62ndth minute of the game Pierson Palmer who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Clontarf's Reginald Ryan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Brigid Martyn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ravan Ramsey in the 63rd minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Colm Callaghan got free with Reginald Ryan in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Colm Callaghan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Reginald Ryan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 78 minutes, Taveon Caffrey mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lack and the Clontarf players grew even worse after the yellow card. Dugan McWillie kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. A collision led to Lack getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Taveon Caffrey hit a great ball.
