After 39 played minutes, Hermitage FC's Denny Moran shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Brian Johnson came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Hermitage FC reached it. 42 minutes into the match, Leansaghane's Baoithin Gough sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Davie Frankson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A collision led to Leansaghane getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Denny Caffey hit a great ball. Hermitage FC's Davie Frankson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 47th minute of the match, managed to save Hermitage FC from getting a goal against them. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Baoithin Gough made a kick off. Bairthmead Rutherford charged in rather forcefully in the 57th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bairthmead Rutherford the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Leansaghane had won after a very even match.
