Aban McFrancise showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Donagh Horgan, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Boland Grant in the 6th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rowe Ryan saved Kilcloher from getting behind. If Boland Grant had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Donagh Walker might have been able to make a better finish in the 15th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rowe Ryan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Donagh Walker ran back to his position shaking his head. 17 minutes into the game, Donagh Walker cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Rowe Ryan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Boland Grant fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rowe Ryan having to interfere. After 27 played minutes Kilcloher got a freekick which was hit by Loughlin Dillon. Kilcloher's Rowe Ryan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 32nd minute of the match, managed to save Kilcloher from getting a goal against them. 33 minutes into the match, Kilcloher's goalkeeper Rowe Ryan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Donagh Walker. If Boland Grant had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rowe Ryan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Boland Grant in the 36th minute of play. If Donagh Walker had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 42nd match minute, Kilcloher was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Donagh Horgan to maneuver through the defense. Lavally's Boland Grant got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Donagh Walker to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Boland Grant got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rowe Ryan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Donagh Walker, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 54 minutes into the game, Donagh Walker cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Rowe Ryan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Boland Grant charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Boland Grant the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Boland Grant hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. The supporters of Kilcloher booed when Lavally was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lou Robinson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Donagh Horgan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gerald McPeter's late challenge caught a Kilcloher's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rowe Ryan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Kilcloher's zone, Boland Grant stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rowe Ryan came out of the goal and Boland Grant tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Boland Grant recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Patty Ramsey's late challenge caught a Lavally's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Patty Ramsey helped the player get up and apologised. In the 79th match minute, Kilcloher was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patty Ramsey to maneuver through the defense. In the 81st minute the ball was on its way in behind Kilcloher's goalkeeper Rowe Ryan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Lavally's Emmet McIan got a good chance for a goal in the 84th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 88 minutes into the match, Kilcloher's goal looked a bit too open when Blathma Robinson came free, but Rowe Ryan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Boland Grant sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Blathma Robinson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
