The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Bairre McPeter hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. A collision led to Cloonfinish getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Quirk McLaughlin hit a great ball. With a little luck, Cloonfinish's Raymond Lester got control of the ball when Taveon Caffrey tried to sneak it across the goal line. Colm Callaghan's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 13thth minute, Raymond Lester skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Colm Callaghan hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. Pierson Palmer kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. Colm Callaghan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Cloonfinish's Raymond Lester got control of the ball when Gearard Willson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Colm Callaghan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Raymond Lester having to make a save. Raymond Lester made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Taveon Caffrey sent off a good shot on target. Colm Callaghan's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Raymond Lester firmly grabbed it by the left post. Cian McJohn took the ball and in the 32 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Brigid Martyn. Brigid Martyn dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hugh Molloy in the 36th minute of play forced Lack's goalkeeper Brigid Martyn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Lack getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Pierson Palmer hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gearard Willson during the 41st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 43rd minute, Jarlath Sheridan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Arthur McVictor fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cloonfinish's protests and gave Arthur McVictor a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Cloonfinish getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Arthur McVictor hit a great ball. If Jarlath Sheridan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half Cloonfinish were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Raymond Lester took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pierson Palmer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Cloonfinish getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Quirk McLaughlin hit a great ball. Raymond Lester showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Colm Callaghan in the 59th minute of the match. 61 minutes into the match, Cloonfinish's goal looked a bit too open when Colm Callaghan came free, but Raymond Lester reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Cloonfinish's zone, Colm Callaghan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Raymond Lester came out of the goal and Colm Callaghan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Taveon Caffrey fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Raymond Lester having to interfere. Cian McJohn hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Colm Callaghan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Colm Callaghan struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Raymond Lester didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lack. Lack's Pierson Palmer got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Chants of Cloonfinish echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Lack had held the ball for most of the match.
