Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Douglas Coyle got the match started through his kick off. In the 4th minute Terrence Dimson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nolyn Horgan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Burtonport getting a freekick after 5 minutes play. Tady Hunt hit a great ball. Knockboha's Conn Doyle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Douglas Coyle in the 7th minute of play. Bannon Hughes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Conn Doyle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Conn Doyle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Douglas Coyle in the 12th minute of play. In the 28thth minute of the game Kevion Branson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Burtonport's Nolyn Horgan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to Burtonport getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Douglas Coyle hit a great ball. Conn Doyle came out of the goal in the 34th minute to try and stop a shot by Burtonport's Bannon Hughes. But to his dismay, Bannon Hughes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Conn Doyle showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Douglas Coyle in the 37th minute of the match. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Burtonport's goalkeeper Nolyn Horgan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Douglas Coyle in the 47th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Conn Doyle saved Knockboha from getting behind. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Terrence Dimson to make the kick off. After 51 played minutes Burtonport got a freekick which was hit by Gearalt McVictor. Brigid Lester's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nolyn Horgan read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Douglas Coyle in the 60th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Conn Doyle saved Knockboha from getting behind. If Douglas Coyle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 84th minute, Bannon Hughes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 90 minutes into the match, Knockboha's goal looked a bit too open when Bannon Hughes came free, but Conn Doyle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 92nd minute, Bannon Hughes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Burtonport fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Douglas Coyle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the referee ended the match the Burtonport players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
