Spectators: 6779 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1779, VIP seats: 0) Cloughjordan Utd's Boyle McNamara started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th match minute, Monaghan AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bow Gollogley to maneuver through the defense. If Boyle McNamara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Arthur Tracy came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Monaghan AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arthur Tracy couldn't finish the play. In the 8th minute, Ultan Delaney hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Breenan McPhilip had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Monaghan AFC's zone, Boyle McNamara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Braoin Prunty came out of the goal and Boyle McNamara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Boyle McNamara in the 21st minute of play forced Monaghan AFC's goalkeeper Braoin Prunty to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Breenan McPhilip struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Braoin Prunty didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cloughjordan Utd. Braoin Prunty came out of the goal in the 23rd minute to try and stop a shot by Cloughjordan Utd's Boyle McNamara. But to his dismay, Boyle McNamara quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. The supporters of Cloughjordan Utd booed when Monaghan AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Birr McJames didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 33rd minute, Breenan McPhilip got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cloughjordan Utd's Boyle McNamara got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 38 minutes, Breenan McPhilip managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cloughjordan Utd's supporters crossed their fingers, but Breenan McPhilip was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Braoin Prunty didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Boyle McNamara went, in the 38th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. In the 43rd minute Boyle McNamara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Braoin Prunty saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half Cloughjordan Utd were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ferdia McWill made a kick off. Braoin Prunty showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Boyle McNamara in the 55th minute of the match. Boyle McNamara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Braoin Prunty tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 70th minute, Boyle McNamara reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Braoin Prunty. The goal made the score 0-4. After a rather tough play, Cloughjordan Utd's Ultan Delaney got a free kick in the 81st minute. After having played for 90 minutes, Boyle McNamara managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cloughjordan Utd's supporters crossed their fingers, but Boyle McNamara was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Monaghan AFC's Braoin Prunty proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Monaghan AFC from getting a goal against them. Breenan McPhilip sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cloughjordan Utd's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
