In the 9thth minute of the game Donavin McJohnny who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Castlegar's Alan Caffey was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 11 minutes, Donavin McJohnny managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lenankeel Utd's supporters crossed their fingers, but Donavin McJohnny was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pearce Brennan in the 13th minute of play forced Castlegar's goalkeeper Alan Caffey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alan Caffey made an important save on a dangerous shot by Donavin McJohnny in the 17th minute. Lenankeel Utd's Pearce Brennan got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 20th minute, Donavin McJohnny fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. After a rather tough play, Castlegar's Séamus Benson got a free kick in the 23rd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Donavin McJohnny got free with Alan Caffey in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Donavin McJohnny sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Raonall O'Neill kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. In the 30th minute, Pearce Brennan made a precise shot to the right of Alan Caffey. Castlegar's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Darrin Colwell in the 34th minute of play forced Lenankeel Utd's goalkeeper Blaire O'Down to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pearce Brennan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alan Caffey having to interfere. When Pearce Brennan came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Lenankeel Utd fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pearce Brennan couldn't finish the play.

The wind increased when Pearce Brennan made the kick off in the second half. Donavin McJohnny kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Lenankeel Utd's Barran McNamee got a free kick in the 53rd minute. 58 minutes into the match, Castlegar's goal looked a bit too open when Donavin McJohnny came free, but Alan Caffey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Donavin McJohnny fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alan Caffey having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Donavin McJohnny managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lenankeel Utd's supporters rose to their feet, but Donavin McJohnny was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alan Caffey breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 64 minutes into the match, Castlegar's goal looked a bit too open when Pearce Brennan came free, but Alan Caffey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 68th minute, Darrin Colwell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 71 minutes of play, Castlegar's Bevan McDonald made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Blaire O'Down was left in no man's land by his defense there! Donavin McJohnny scored 3-1 in the 81st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alan Caffey, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 89 minutes into the match, Bevan McDonald had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Blaire O'Down. Lenankeel Utd's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bevan McDonald was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Lenankeel Utd fans cheered their team off the field, for while Castlegar had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
