Castlegar's Séamus Benson got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Breffni Willson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 27 minutes into the match, Castlegar's goal looked a bit too open when Breffni Willson came free, but Alan Caffey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Caolán Martyn who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 31stth minute tested the skills of Alan Caffey when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Bevan McDonald's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Brannon Keegan was relentless in the 35th minute of the game. Caolán Martyn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Alan Caffey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Darrin Colwell stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 54 minutes Drumbeg AFC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Raonall O'Neill who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Castlegar's Raonall O'Neill to fire away a dangerous shot which Brannon Keegan despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Caolán Martyn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Alan Caffey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Brannon Keegan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Darrin Colwell in the 62nd minute of play. Brannon Keegan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Darrin Colwell, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. In the 65th minute of the match Castlegar got a corner. Drumbeg AFC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. The corner led to Castlegar's Harold McDonald getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. 71 minutes into the match, Breffni Willson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alan Caffey. Castlegar's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Breffni Willson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Conn Deans during the 74th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Conn Deans hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. When Breffni Willson came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Drumbeg AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Breffni Willson couldn't finish the play. In the 83rd minute, Raonall O'Neill hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bevan McDonald fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brannon Keegan having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Darrin Colwell's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Brannon Keegan was relentless in the 96th minute of the game. Bin Benson hit a great freekick 97 minutes into the match. In the 98th minute Darrin Colwell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brannon Keegan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Drumbeg AFC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Castlegar for a fine match.
