With a couple of smart ball manuevers Brann McOliver in the 3rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alan Caffey saved Castlegar from getting behind. If Bevan McDonald had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 7th minute, Castlegar's Darrin Colwell ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Cleary McIan. Cleary McIan yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Kealan Lester struck a weak shot in the 13th minute. Alan Caffey didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Moate. An unexpectedly hard shot by Darrin Colwell in the 15th minute of play forced Moate's goalkeeper Cleary McIan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Breannain Moran during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 19th minute, Breannain Moran hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Boland Molloy didn't quite understand what happened when in the 21 minute of the game managed to get a great opportunity for a goal and then missed the goal by a feet. Brann McOliver received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Alan Caffey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Healy Harkin hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. When Kealan Lester came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Moate fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kealan Lester couldn't finish the play. Alan Caffey showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Brann McOliver in the 27th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Moate's Brann McOliver got a free kick in the 31st minute. Kealan Lester recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Brann McOliver had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brann McOliver in the 44th minute of play forced Castlegar's goalkeeper Alan Caffey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Bevan McDonald managed to get in a good position for a shot. Castlegar's supporters rose to their feet, but Bevan McDonald was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cleary McIan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Darrin Colwell was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Moate's goal looked a bit too open when Darrin Colwell came free, but Cleary McIan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Blian Ghee during the 57th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Blian Ghee hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Moate's Blian Ghee got his second yellow card of the match in the 60th minute. The referee ordered Blian Ghee off the ground. Blian Ghee kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Castlegar's zone, Kealan Lester stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alan Caffey came out of the goal and Kealan Lester tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Brann McOliver fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alan Caffey having to interfere. Moate's Cleary McIan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Darrin Colwell in the 69th minute of play. If Brann McOliver had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 80 minutes, Séamus Benson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Castlegar and the Moate players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 80 played minutes Castlegar got a freekick which was hit by Séamus Benson. Kealan Lester who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 86thth minute tested the skills of Alan Caffey when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Kealan Lester recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 97th minute Brann McOliver shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alan Caffey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Moate's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
