Spectators: 6777 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1777, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Boethis Dimson started the match with the kick off. Leon Deery hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. When Reagan Jameson came up free with the goalie in the 4th minute, the Barnycarroll fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Reagan Jameson couldn't finish the play. Basil Willson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alan Caffey having to interfere. In the 10th minute Basil Willson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alan Caffey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Barnycarroll's Boethis Dimson in the 12th minute got a chance for a shot 12th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Castlegar's goalie prevented a goal. Bevan McDonald recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alan Caffey showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Basil Willson, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Alan Caffey stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Basil Willson's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. The supporters of Barnycarroll booed when Castlegar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Séamus Benson didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 22nd minute, Séamus Benson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Barnycarroll's Ryon John got a free kick in the 28th minute. 29 minutes into the match, Raonall O'Neill sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Dillon McAlphie threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Raonall O'Neill this time. In the 31st minute of the match, Healy Harkin tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Dillon McAlphie saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 34 minutes into the match, Boethis Dimson notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Castlegar's Alan Caffey. Alan Caffey was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Alan Caffey showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Basil Willson in the 40th minute of the match. In the 40th match minute, Castlegar was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Healy Harkin to maneuver through the defense. When Basil Willson came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Barnycarroll fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Basil Willson couldn't finish the play. Alan Caffey stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Boethis Dimson's shot from short distance in the 47th minute. After the first half Barnycarroll were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Darrin Colwell to make the kick off. Basil Willson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Alan Caffey made a huge save. Alan Caffey didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 52nd minute, which inside left pole to 0-2. In the 57th minute, Basil Willson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 59th minute the ball was on its way in behind Castlegar's goalkeeper Alan Caffey, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Boethis Dimson in the 63rd minute of play forced Castlegar's goalkeeper Alan Caffey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Darrin Colwell received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Dillon McAlphie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Barnycarroll booed when Castlegar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Raonall O'Neill didn't get a good kick on the ball. Castlegar's Alan Caffey proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Castlegar from getting a goal against them. The crowd rose to their feet as Basil Willson kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Alan Caffey. That made the score 0-3 in the 69 minute of play. In the 76th minute of the match Conleth McPaul sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Alan Caffey skillfully saved the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Conn Deans during the 78th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 78th match minute, Barnycarroll was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Conn Deans to maneuver through the defense. Dillon McAlphie made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Darrin Colwell in the 79th minute of play. In the 81st minute Darrin Colwell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dillon McAlphie saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 85th minute of the game. One of Castlegar:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Barnycarroll:s goal. In the last second Alan Caffey throw himself and got hold of the ball when Boethis Dimson in the 92ndth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Basil Willson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 97th minute of the match, but Alan Caffey made a huge save. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Barnycarroll had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
