An unexpectedly hard shot by Turlough McGlynn in the 15th minute of play forced Barnycarroll's goalkeeper Dillon McAlphie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 20 minutes into the match, Barnycarroll's Basil Willson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Donleavy Lester narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Basil Willson got free with Donleavy Lester in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Barnycarroll's Basil Willson got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Killmacomma players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
