Castlegar's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Coran Caffey was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After 7 minutes, Healy Harkin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Castlegar and the Altans players grew even worse after the yellow card. Healy Harkin kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. In the 12th match minute, Altans was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Coran Caffey to maneuver through the defense. 13 minutes into the match, Castlegar's Raonall O'Neill broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. The supporters of Castlegar booed when Altans was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Royan Mulvihill didn't get a good kick on the ball. Castlegar's Raonall O'Neill couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 16th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Altans. After 17 minutes of play, Altans's Arnold Lester made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alan Caffey was left in no man's land by his defense there! Altans's Donlevy McBrand got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Arnold Lester sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arnold Lester took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Alan Caffey. Alan Caffey dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Alan Caffey showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Donlevy McBrand, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. If Donlevy McBrand had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 47 minutes into the match, Castlegar's goal looked a bit too open when Donlevy McBrand came free, but Alan Caffey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The wind increased when Darrin Colwell made the kick off in the second half. Altans's Dolan McPaul played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Darrin Colwell in the 54th minute of play. Dolan McPaul showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bevan McDonald in the 56th minute of the match. In the 58th minute, Séamus Benson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dennis Palmer took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 59th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Alan Caffey. Castlegar's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Darrin Colwell in the 64th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dolan McPaul saved Altans from getting behind. Arnold Lester's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alan Caffey read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. After having played for 72 minutes, Arnold Lester managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Altans's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arnold Lester was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 74 minutes into the game, Donlevy McBrand cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Alan Caffey was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of Altans booed when Castlegar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Breannain Moran didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 78th minute, Arnold Lester ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alan Caffey was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. Alan Caffey stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Arnold Lester's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. The supporters of Altans booed when Castlegar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Healy Harkin didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Arnold Lester managed to get in a good position for a shot. Altans's supporters rose to their feet, but Arnold Lester was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alan Caffey breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Altans's Donlevy McBrand came free and shot a quick shot against goal 87 minutes in the game, fortunately Alan Caffey had problems saving as it came toward the left post. Royan Mulvihill kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. Dolan McPaul made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Darrin Colwell in the 90th minute of play. Donlevy McBrand received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Alan Caffey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 94 minutes into the match, Castlegar's goal looked a bit too open when Arnold Lester came free, but Alan Caffey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Donlevy McBrand fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alan Caffey having to interfere.
