With an all-out effort, Mungairit's Don Ferguson threw himself towards the right post 21 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Gill Robinson, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After having played for 24 minutes, Brian Ryan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Portsalon's supporters crossed their fingers, but Brian Ryan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lou Willson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brian Ryan in the 28th minute of play. In the 34th match minute, Portsalon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Donlan McVictor to maneuver through the defense. Portsalon's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Donegal Byrne was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Portsalon were furious when Brite McCollion was red carded, 42 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 43rd match minute, Portsalon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brite McCollion to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought it was a sure goal in the 45th minute, when Mungairit's Nolen Ghee after having done a great run through the defense got himself free with Don Ferguson in Portsalon's goal and fired away a shot, but it missed the goal by a fraction of an inch. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bearchan Lester got free with Don Ferguson in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 47th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mungairit's goalkeeper Lou Willson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Donegal Byrne made a kick off. Don Ferguson came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by Mungairit's Bearchan Lester. But to his dismay, Bearchan Lester quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Lou Willson came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by Portsalon's Brian Ryan. But to his dismay, Brian Ryan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. After 61 played minutes Portsalon got a freekick which was hit by Donlan McVictor. In the 63rd minute Bearchan Lester shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Don Ferguson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Portsalon's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mungairit the free kick. Lou Willson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Brian Ryan went, in the 94th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-3 was the resulting score.
