Spectators: 6785 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1785, VIP seats: 0) Portsalon's Brian Ryan started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 7th minute, Ummera's Terence McPhil seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Terence McPhil the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Ummera protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Terence McPhil had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Finian McAaron had in the 10thth minute some difficulties stopping Brian Ryan's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 14th match minute, Portsalon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Roy Branson to maneuver through the defense. Brian Ryan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Finian McAaron having to make a save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Brian Ryan in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Finian McAaron saved Ummera from getting behind. When Portsalon's Brian Ryan in the 33rd minute got a chance for a shot 33rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ummera's goalie prevented a goal. Don Ferguson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Comhghall O'Down in the 37th minute. If Brian Ryan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Finian McAaron showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Brian Ryan in the 39th minute of the match. Finian McAaron showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brian Ryan, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. Ummera's Bannon McSteven suffered a concussion in the 42nd minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. When Brian Ryan fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Portsalon's protests and gave Brian Ryan a yellow card for diving instead. If Seoirse Mulvihill had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

After 55 played minutes Ummera got a freekick which was hit by Reidy Beckett. Finian McAaron was out of position in the 56 minute of play, and Brian Ryan capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Brian Ryan really showed his touch with that goal: 0-1. In the 62nd minute, Brian Ryan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 65th minute, Brian Ryan ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Finian McAaron was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Brian Ryan who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 70thth minute tested the skills of Finian McAaron when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Seoirse Mulvihill recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Seoirse Mulvihill managed to get in a good position for a shot. Portsalon's supporters rose to their feet, but Seoirse Mulvihill was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Finian McAaron breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Brian Ryan came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Portsalon fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Brian Ryan couldn't finish the play. Brian Ryan might have been able to make a better finish in the 84th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Finian McAaron. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Brian Ryan ran back to his position shaking his head. Ummera's Finian McAaron proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save Ummera from getting a goal against them. Finbar Martyn hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. Finian McAaron made an important save on a dangerous shot by Brian Ryan in the 89th minute. Don Ferguson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Beckett Tierney went, in the 92nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. After 95 played minutes Portsalon got a freekick which was hit by Beartlai Caffey. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Portsalon had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
