The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Caroll Rutherford made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ryleigh McGlynn in the 6th minute of play. If Ricard McWill had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Myrtlegrove's zone, Ricard McWill stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Caroll Rutherford came out of the goal and Ricard McWill tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ryan Prunty hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. Rowley McWillie made an important save on a dangerous shot by Liam Barrett in the 19th minute. After a rather tough play, Derrycoosh AFC's Terry McBrandon got a free kick in the 19th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Rigan McOliver managed to get in a good position for a shot. Derrycoosh AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Rigan McOliver was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Caroll Rutherford breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Myrtlegrove's Liam Barrett got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Phelan Johnson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Phelan Johnson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 35 minutes into the match, Derrycoosh AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Phelan Johnson came free, but Rowley McWillie reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ryleigh McGlynn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Caroll Rutherford having to interfere. Caroll Rutherford made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ricard McWill in the 39th minute of play. Ryleigh McGlynn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When Theobald Quinnless fell near the penalty area in the 68th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Myrtlegrove's protests and gave Theobald Quinnless a yellow card for diving instead. 68 minutes into the game, one of Myrtlegrove:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Ricard McWill might have been able to make a better finish in the 78th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Caroll Rutherford. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ricard McWill ran back to his position shaking his head. The audience was convinced that Ryleigh McGlynn's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Caroll Rutherford was relentless in the 79th minute of the game. Derrycoosh AFC's Rowley McWillie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Phelan Johnson in the 82nd minute of play. Caroll Rutherford made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Ricard McWill sent off a good shot on target. In the 87th minute, Harry Barrett hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 88 minutes into the match, Myrtlegrove's goal looked a bit too open when Ryleigh McGlynn came free, but Caroll Rutherford reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The nice shot from Ricard McWill in the 89thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Caroll Rutherford had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. If Ryleigh McGlynn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 94 played minutes Myrtlegrove got a freekick which was hit by Harry Barrett. Caroll Rutherford didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Derrycoosh AFC's Ryleigh McGlynn shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 0-2 in the ordered_time% minute. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Derrycoosh AFC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
