Spectators: 6774 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1774, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Breas Colwell got the match started through his kick off. Donal Benson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Andrew McNamee received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Pearse McSteve tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Prosperous Utd getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Brickeen Caffrey hit a great ball. When Briony Mulvihill fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Prosperous Utd's protests and gave Briony Mulvihill a yellow card for diving instead. After 15 played minutes Prosperous Utd got a freekick which was hit by Briony Mulvihill. Pearse McSteve stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Andrew McNamee's shot from short distance in the 18th minute. With a little luck, Prosperous Utd's Pearse McSteve got control of the ball when Breasal Beckett tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Breasal Beckett managed to get in a good position for a shot. Clonegal's supporters rose to their feet, but Breasal Beckett was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pearse McSteve breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Breas Colwell's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Darick McWillie read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. In the 27th minute, Treno Morrison hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 29th minute, Donn Keegan had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Treno Morrison during the 29th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Clonegal's Treno Morrison got a free kick in the 29th minute. Scot McGlynn hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Darick McWillie came out of the goal in the 33rd minute to try and stop a shot by Prosperous Utd's Oliver McJames. But to his dismay, Oliver McJames quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in Clonegal's zone, Donal Benson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Darick McWillie came out of the goal and Donal Benson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Darick McWillie took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Briony Mulvihill, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Prosperous Utd were awarded a corner in the 41th minute after Clonegal's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Oliver McJames took the corner. It was a well-played corner which Briony Mulvihill managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Prosperous Utd's Donal Benson got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The audience was convinced that Donald Caffey's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Darick McWillie was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. After 55 played minutes Clonegal got a freekick which was hit by Scot McGlynn. Oliver McJames recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 56 minutes into the match, Clonegal's goalkeeper Darick McWillie had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Oliver McJames. After 58 minutes of play, Prosperous Utd's Brickeen Caffrey made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Darick McWillie was left in no man's land by his defense there! When Donal Benson came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Prosperous Utd fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Donal Benson couldn't finish the play. Scot McGlynn, 85 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Donal Benson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Darick McWillie having to interfere.
