In the 6th minute the ball was on its way in behind Bunnagippaun's goalkeeper Boru O'Brien, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 7 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Bunnagippaun! In the 8th minute there was a penalty for Spancelhill. Brendon Grant stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Boru O'Brien. 0-1. Donn Doherty could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 14th minute of the match, but Boylan McGlynn made a huge save. In the 21st minute, Donn Doherty got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 28 minutes into the match, Enda McCollion notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Bunnagippaun's Boru O'Brien. Boru O'Brien was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Boru O'Brien made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Basil Deans in the 33rd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Enda McCollion in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Boru O'Brien saved Bunnagippaun from getting behind. The Spancelhill fans' excitement grew in the 36th match minute when Spancelhill's Enda McCollion looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 44 minutes into the match, Bunnagippaun's goal looked a bit too open when Enda McCollion came free, but Boru O'Brien reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 45th minute, Enda McCollion made a precise shot to the right of Boru O'Brien. Bunnagippaun's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-4.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Enda McCollion to strike the kick off in the second half. Spancelhill's Boylan McGlynn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rowley John in the 59th minute of play. Enda McCollion received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Boru O'Brien tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rowley John blasted a shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Boylan McGlynn having to make a save. After 66 minutes, Rowley John made it 1-4 with a short kick to the right side. Spancelhill's Boylan McGlynn tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 72 minutes into the game, Brady Gough was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Bunnagippaun's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Spancelhill the free kick. In the 72nd minute, Brady Gough hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Donn Doherty had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Brady Gough kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. The Spancelhill supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Spancelhill would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
