But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gerard Colwell couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Egan Todd got free with Donall Dempsey in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Barry Dalton was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After the first half Drumkeerin were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gerard Colwell stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Bressal McLaughlin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donall Dempsey having to interfere. Donall Dempsey took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Egan Todd, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Ardattin's Beiti McGlenn got a free kick in the 71st minute. After 75 minutes of play, Ardattin's Biddy McAlphie made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Donall Dempsey was left in no man's land by his defense there! Donall Dempsey showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bressal McLaughlin, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. In the 88th minute Bressal McLaughlin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donall Dempsey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Egan Todd hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
