Ballydivin's Brann McNamara played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Breandan Martyn in the 7th minute of play. Desmond Branson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bard McFrancise in the 9th minute. Comhghall Dillon struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Desmond Branson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ballydivin. When Breandan Martyn came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Kilnamaddy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Breandan Martyn couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Kilnamaddy's zone, Bard McFrancise stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Desmond Branson came out of the goal and Bard McFrancise tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bard McFrancise in the 25th minute of play forced Kilnamaddy's goalkeeper Desmond Branson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 28th minute, Ballydivin's Bard McFrancise dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Bard McFrancise fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Desmond Branson having to interfere. After 37 minutes of play, Kilnamaddy's Boylan Beckett made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Brann McNamara was left in no man's land by his defense there! Breandan Martyn kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. In the 43rd minute Bard McFrancise shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Desmond Branson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bard McFrancise sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Bard McFrancise managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ballydivin's supporters rose to their feet, but Bard McFrancise was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Desmond Branson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
The wind increased when Todd McGlenn made the kick off in the second half. Kilnamaddy's Desmond Branson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ros Gillmour in the 51st minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Bard McFrancise managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ballydivin's supporters rose to their feet, but Bard McFrancise was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Desmond Branson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Bard McFrancise's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Desmond Branson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. Brann McNamara showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Todd McGlenn, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. 59 minutes into the match, Hickey Ghee dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Brann McNamara, 1-2. Todd McGlenn might have been able to make a better finish in the 62nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Brann McNamara. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Todd McGlenn ran back to his position shaking his head. If Bard McFrancise had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Todd McGlenn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 67th minute Breandan Martyn shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brann McNamara saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bard McFrancise sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 80 minutes, Boylan Beckett managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kilnamaddy's supporters crossed their fingers, but Boylan Beckett was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bard McFrancise fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Desmond Branson having to interfere. Desmond Branson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bard McFrancise in the 84th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Kilnamaddy's Payton Kirby got a free kick in the 85th minute. When Herich McFrank fell near the penalty area in the 92nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Kilnamaddy's protests and gave Herich McFrank a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Kilnamaddy getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Herich McFrank hit a great ball. In the 93rd minute of the match Art Silke shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Desmond Branson showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bard McFrancise in the 94th minute of play forced Kilnamaddy's goalkeeper Desmond Branson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Chants of Kilnamaddy echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Ballydivin had held the ball for most of the match.
