If Herich Sheridan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Derrynameel's zone, Fionntán Benson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ricard Hamilton came out of the goal and Fionntán Benson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 18th match minute, Derrynameel was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jarlath McCollion to maneuver through the defense. Ricard Hamilton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fionntán Benson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ricard Hamilton made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Herich Sheridan sent off a good shot on target. Ricard Hamilton made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fionntán Benson in the 23rd minute. Ricard Hamilton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fionntán Benson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 28thth minute of the game Fionntán Benson who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Derrynameel's Ricard Hamilton was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Fionntán Benson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ricard Hamilton read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Bradaigh Ghee managed to get in a good position for a shot. Derrynameel's supporters rose to their feet, but Bradaigh Ghee was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Theodore Rutherford breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 37 minutes of play, Drumgowan Ut's Fionntán Benson made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ricard Hamilton was left in no man's land by his defense there! The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Brandon McOliver made a kick off. Ricard Hamilton came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by Drumgowan Ut's Bartel McStephen. But to his dismay, Bartel McStephen quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. 61 minutes into the match, Fionntán Benson notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Derrynameel's Ricard Hamilton. Ricard Hamilton was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fionntán Benson in the 64th minute of play forced Derrynameel's goalkeeper Ricard Hamilton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Herich Sheridan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 67 minutes into the match, Drumgowan Ut's Fionntán Benson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ricard Hamilton narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 72 minutes, Fionntán Benson put it in 5-0 from a short distance just to the right of Ricard Hamilton. 76 minutes into the game, Fionntán Benson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 6-0. Ricard Hamilton was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ricard Hamilton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fionntán Benson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Drumgowan Ut's Herich Sheridan got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 84 minutes into the match, Derrynameel's goal looked a bit too open when Fionntán Benson came free, but Ricard Hamilton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Derrynameel's Ricard Hamilton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fionntán Benson in the 86th minute of play. 87 minutes into the match, Derrynameel's goal looked a bit too open when Herich Sheridan came free, but Ricard Hamilton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Bradaigh Ghee kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. 95 minutes into the match, Derrynameel's Brandan McJon broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Derrynameel's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
