Seating: 1761, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Dugan McDonald started the match with the kick off. Louie Crowe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bow Colwell having to interfere. Rowley Hutton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Bow Colwell tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dugan McDonald sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rowley Hutton was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 12th minute. Licketstown's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Kilronan's Bow Colwell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rowley Hutton in the 15th minute of play. Patraic Caffrey's late challenge caught a Licketstown's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Patraic Caffrey helped the player get up and apologised. In the 16th match minute, Kilronan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Patraic Caffrey to maneuver through the defense. Dugan McDonald recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dugan McDonald in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bel McAaron saved Licketstown from getting behind. Beothach Harkin hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. When the match had gone on for 26 minutes, Dugan McDonald put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Bel McAaron. Brenan Caffrey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Bel McAaron tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kilronan's Dugan McDonald got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Blanaid Dimson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kilronan's supporters rose to their feet, but Blanaid Dimson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bel McAaron breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dugan McDonald struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Bel McAaron didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Kilronan. If Brenan Caffrey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dugan McDonald fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bel McAaron having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Patraic Caffrey managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kilronan's supporters rose to their feet, but Patraic Caffrey was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bel McAaron breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Bel McAaron stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dugan McDonald's shot from short distance in the 47th minute. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The wind increased when Rowley Hutton made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Kilronan booed when Licketstown was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Beothach Harkin didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 55 played minutes, Kilronan's Torran Palmer shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Bel McAaron came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Kilronan reached it. Dugan McDonald succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-2 in the 56th playminute. Beothach Harkin's late challenge caught a Kilronan's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Beothach Harkin helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Licketstown's Keelin Dimson got a free kick in the 64th minute. Licketstown's Louie Crowe got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With his leg Bel McAaron managed to avoid a goal in the 70thth minute, when Kilronan's Dugan McDonald fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Dugan McDonald sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dugan McDonald had several of the Licketstown's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 78 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-3 score and a disappointed Bel McAaron as he didn't even see the shot coming. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dugan McDonald got free with Bel McAaron in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Kilronan booed when Licketstown was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Shey Kelly didn't get a good kick on the ball.
