Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Santa Cavia took the kick off in the first half of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Santa Cavia in the 3rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Aubrey Dempsey saved Ballysheeda from getting behind. Santa Cavia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 7th minute, Paud Mulvihill got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Aubrey Dempsey didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Santa Cavia went, in the 11th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. After a rather tough play, Ballysheeda's Bracken McStephen got a free kick in the 14th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Ballysheeda's zone, Blavock McDonald stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aubrey Dempsey came out of the goal and Blavock McDonald tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Daron Doyle fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ballysheeda's protests and gave Daron Doyle a yellow card for diving instead. In the 17th minute, Daron Doyle hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 20th minute, Santa Cavia made a precise shot to the right of Aubrey Dempsey. Ballysheeda's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. 24 minutes into the match, Blavock McDonald had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Aubrey Dempsey. Ballysheeda's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Blavock McDonald was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. The audience was convinced that Santa Cavia's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Aubrey Dempsey was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. Aubrey Dempsey made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Santa Cavia in the 29th minute of play. In the 30th match minute, Ballysheeda was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Riddock McAaron to maneuver through the defense. Aubrey Dempsey took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Blavock McDonald, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 39 minutes, Santa Cavia made it 0-5 with a short kick to the right side. Ballysheeda's Aubrey Dempsey tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After 42 played minutes Platoon Column got a freekick which was hit by Piers Prunty. 44 minutes in the game, Sheridan McNamara fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Briain Hunt having to interfere. 45 minutes into the match, Platoon Column's goal looked a bit too open when Sheridan McNamara came free, but Briain Hunt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 47th minute, Sheridan McNamara hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Disappointed in the 0-5 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sheridan McNamara to strike the kick off in the second half. Ballysheeda's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Barran Hamilton in the 53rd minute. A nice corner shot did that Barran Hamilton got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Briain Hunt quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 55 minutes into the match, Sheridan McNamara notched a goal, 1-5, to the right of Platoon Column's Briain Hunt. Briain Hunt was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With his leg Aubrey Dempsey managed to avoid a goal in the 58thth minute, when Platoon Column's Santa Cavia fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After some careless play in the Ballysheeda defense, Paud Mulvihill kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Aubrey Dempsey. The Ballysheeda fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aubrey Dempsey should have stopped the shot. Santa Cavia who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 68thth minute tested the skills of Aubrey Dempsey when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Bracken McStephen fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ballysheeda's protests and gave Bracken McStephen a yellow card for diving instead. In the 73rd match minute, Ballysheeda was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bracken McStephen to maneuver through the defense. When Blavock McDonald came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Platoon Column fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Blavock McDonald couldn't finish the play. Binne Gallagher's late challenge caught a Platoon Column's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Binne Gallagher helped the player get up and apologised. After 78 played minutes Ballysheeda got a freekick which was hit by Binne Gallagher. Brede Kirby was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 80 minutes into the match. Brede Kirby hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. It was beautiful to see Platoon Column's Piers Prunty in action when he in the 82nd minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! With a little luck, Ballysheeda's Aubrey Dempsey got control of the ball when Santa Cavia tried to sneak it across the goal line. Santa Cavia came free with the goalkeeper in the 86th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Aubrey Dempsey could save by the left post. Aubrey Dempsey showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Iturri Romero in the 87th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Blavock McDonald during the 91st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. If Santa Cavia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 98th minute, Bracken McStephen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 99 minutes into the match, Santa Cavia had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Aubrey Dempsey. Ballysheeda's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Santa Cavia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-7. When the match was over Platoon Column could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Ballysheeda throughout the match.
