With his leg Theobald Martyn managed to avoid a goal in the 4thth minute, when Killbarly's Gaynor McBrandon fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. When Barra Doherty came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the Ballinasloe FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Barra Doherty couldn't finish the play. Ballinasloe FC's Braden Ryan got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 17th minute Barra Doherty shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aengus McPeter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Barr Byrne kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. Adamnan Coyle recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Theobald Martyn made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when Gaynor McBrandon sent off a good shot on target. Ballinasloe FC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 31st minute, when Irwin McFrank scored to the left of an out of position Theobald Martyn, making the score, 1-0. When Adamnan Coyle came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Ballinasloe FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adamnan Coyle couldn't finish the play. Aengus McPeter took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Braden Ryan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ballinasloe FC's Enda McAlphie was substituted for Barra Doherty. The supporters of Ballinasloe FC booed when Killbarly was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bercnan Tracy didn't get a good kick on the ball. Enda McAlphie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Braden Ryan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rordan McPaul made a kick off. A beautiful save bye Killbarly's goalie prevented a goal. Aengus McPeter made an important save on a dangerous shot by Adamnan Coyle in the 52nd minute. Killbarly's Aengus McPeter proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save Killbarly from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Irwin McFrank in the 59th minute of play forced Ballinasloe FC's goalkeeper Theobald Martyn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Braden Ryan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aengus McPeter read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 60th minute of play. Aengus McPeter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rordan McPaul in the 64th minute of play. Lee Johnson hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. Irwin McFrank fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Theobald Martyn having to interfere. After having played for 74 minutes, Enda McAlphie managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ballinasloe FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Enda McAlphie was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Braden Ryan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 79 minutes into the match, Killbarly's goalkeeper Aengus McPeter had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Adamnan Coyle. If Rordan McPaul had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 85th minute, Bercnan Tracy left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Killbarly fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Ballinasloe FC's Rordan McPaul shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 89th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Aengus McPeter but with some difficulty. Theobald Martyn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gaynor McBrandon in the 90th minute of the match. Irwin McFrank scored 3-1 in the 93rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Theobald Martyn, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. For all the effort they put into the match, the Ballinasloe FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Killbarly.
