The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Críostóir McStephen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Braddon Cronin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Irwin McFrank's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Shey Mullan was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. Bercnan Tracy charged in rather forcefully in the 18th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bercnan Tracy the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 18 played minutes Killbarly got a freekick which was hit by Bercnan Tracy. The supporters of Derrybeg booed when Killbarly was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gaynor McBrandon didn't get a good kick on the ball. Braddon Cronin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aengus McPeter read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Derrybeg's zone, Irwin McFrank stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Shey Mullan came out of the goal and Irwin McFrank tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Barr Byrne during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 27th minute, Barr Byrne hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 31 played minutes Derrybeg got a freekick which was hit by Jarlath McJames. Beale Dalton hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. In the 36th match minute, Derrybeg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jarlath McJames to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Derrybeg's zone, Gaynor McBrandon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Shey Mullan came out of the goal and Gaynor McBrandon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jarlath McJames charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jarlath McJames the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 42nd minute, Jarlath McJames hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Braddon Cronin blasted a shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Aengus McPeter having to make a save. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Braddon Cronin to strike the kick off in the second half. Blamhac Caffrey's late challenge caught a Killbarly's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Blamhac Caffrey helped the player get up and apologised. In the 58th minute the ball was on its way in behind Derrybeg's goalkeeper Shey Mullan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Irwin McFrank sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Irwin McFrank's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Shey Mullan was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. After 72 minutes, Críostóir McStephen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Killbarly and the Derrybeg players grew even worse after the yellow card. 73 minutes into the match, Killbarly's goal looked a bit too open when Barra McWill came free, but Aengus McPeter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 76 minutes into the match, Derrybeg's goalkeeper Shey Mullan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gaynor McBrandon. Gaynor McBrandon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Shey Mullan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gaynor McBrandon went, in the 88th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Irwin McFrank in the 93rd minute of play forced Derrybeg's goalkeeper Shey Mullan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gaynor McBrandons short, quick shot in the 96thth minute got Shey Mullan to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Aengus McPeter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Braddon Cronin in the 99th minute of the match. When the final whistle sounded Killbarly left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Derrybeg.
