Beagan Harkin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ferdia Prunty, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Dermot McDonald could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 36th minute of the match, but Rowland Moran made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Lee McGlynn managed to get in a good position for a shot. Spaville's supporters rose to their feet, but Lee McGlynn was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rowland Moran breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 38 minutes, Randal Moran mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cottian and the Spaville players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Cottian getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Randal Moran hit a great ball. Lee McGlynn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rowland Moran having to interfere. Beagan Harkin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilbert McGlynn in the 43rd minute of the match. If Lee McGlynn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The wind increased when Lee McGlynn made the kick off in the second half. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 51st minute of the game. One of Spaville:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Cottian:s goal. 56 minutes into the game, Briain Murphy was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cottian's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Spaville the free kick. A collision led to Cottian getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Briain Murphy hit a great ball. After 58 minutes of play, Spaville's Dermot McDonald made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rowland Moran was left in no man's land by his defense there! The crowd rose to their feet as Ferdia Prunty kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Beagan Harkin. That made the score 2-2 in the 64 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dermot McDonald in the 75th minute of play forced Cottian's goalkeeper Rowland Moran to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Cottian's Briain Murphy got a free kick in the 78th minute. 84 minutes into the match, Spaville's goal looked a bit too open when Ferdia Prunty came free, but Beagan Harkin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
