When Randal Moran fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cottian's protests and gave Randal Moran a yellow card for diving instead. Randal Moran hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. In the 17th minute, Dane Todd hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rowland Moran made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rordan McPaul in the 19th minute of play. After 21 played minutes Cottian got a freekick which was hit by Randal Moran. With a little luck, Ballinasloe FC's Theobald Martyn got control of the ball when Gilbert McGlynn tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Ballinasloe FC booed when Cottian was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tormaigh Mullan didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tormaigh Mullan kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Gilbert McGlynn's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Theobald Martyn firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 36th match minute, Cottian was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gilbert McGlynn to maneuver through the defense. When Ballinasloe FC's Braden Ryan in the 37th minute got a chance for a shot 37th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Theobald Martyn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ferdia Prunty in the 46th minute of play. When Randal Moran was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 47 minutes had been played. Randal Moran hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match.

After having played for 53 minutes, Rordan McPaul managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ballinasloe FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rordan McPaul was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Ferdia Prunty fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cottian's protests and gave Ferdia Prunty a yellow card for diving instead. Ferdia Prunty kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. If Rordan McPaul had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 66th minute, Braden Ryan made a precise shot to the right of Rowland Moran. Cottian's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. With a little luck, Cottian's Rowland Moran got control of the ball when Braden Ryan tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rordan McPaul ran back to his position shaking his head. Rowland Moran made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rordan McPaul in the 86th minute of play. Cottian's Rowland Moran played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Barra Doherty in the 87th minute of play. In the 88th minute of the game, Adamnan Coyle landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. Ballinasloe FC's Enda McAlphie was substituted for Adamnan Coyle. After 90 played minutes Cottian got a freekick which was hit by Tormaigh Mullan. Rordan McPaul fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rowland Moran having to interfere. When the final whistle sounded Ballinasloe FC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Cottian.
