Donncha Myler's late challenge caught a Clon's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. During the 5th minute of the match Donncha Myler completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Donncha Myler a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Daron McPhil made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Beamard Dimson in the 15th minute of play forced Tallaght's goalkeeper Daron McPhil to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Tallaght's Dennis Ramsey got a free kick in the 16th minute. Barnaby Murphy made an important save on a dangerous shot by Raymun Dempsey in the 20th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eoghan Tracy during the 21st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 21st match minute, Clon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eoghan Tracy to maneuver through the defense. In the 26th minute, Dennis Ramsey hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 30 played minutes Tallaght got a freekick which was hit by Raymun Dempsey. 32 minutes into the match, Clon's Beamard Dimson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Daron McPhil narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 40th minute, Beamard Dimson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Daron McPhil was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Daron McPhil took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Beamard Dimson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Raymun Dempsey recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

After a defensive mix-up in Clon's zone, Raymun Dempsey stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Barnaby Murphy came out of the goal and Raymun Dempsey tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Raymun Dempsey struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Barnaby Murphy didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tallaght. If Raymun Dempsey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 88 minutes into the game, Tallaght's Raymun Dempsey nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Barnaby Murphy made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. If Raymun Dempsey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Clon's Barnaby Murphy played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Blanaid McBrand in the 94th minute of play.
