Quinalahy's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Brian MaCollin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. In the 19th minute, Flann McAlphie hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Rowen McBjarton came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Quinalahy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rowen McBjarton couldn't finish the play. After 27 played minutes Cloughjordan got a freekick which was hit by Quirk McVictor. With a little luck, Cloughjordan's Pearson Dillon got control of the ball when Rowen McBjarton tried to sneak it across the goal line. Damian McGlenn hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Bercan McBrandon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Damian McGlenn kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bradley Rutherford in the 38th minute of play forced Quinalahy's goalkeeper Benen Johnson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rowen McBjarton got free with Pearson Dillon in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 44th minute, Damian McGlenn got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bercan McBrandon stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Rowen McBjarton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Quinalahy's Bercan McBrandon got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Bercan McBrandon's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Pearson Dillon was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. Rowen McBjarton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pearson Dillon having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Flann McAlphie in the 60th minute of play forced Cloughjordan's goalkeeper Pearson Dillon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 63rd minute, Quinalahy's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Damian McGlenn fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Bercan McBrandon might have been able to make a better finish in the 64th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Pearson Dillon. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bercan McBrandon ran back to his position shaking his head. After a defensive mix-up in Cloughjordan's zone, Bercan McBrandon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pearson Dillon came out of the goal and Bercan McBrandon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bradley Rutherford received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Benen Johnson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Brefni McCready kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. Bradley Rutherford recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bradley Rutherford in the 85th minute of play forced Quinalahy's goalkeeper Benen Johnson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bradley Rutherford struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Benen Johnson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cloughjordan. If Brian MaCollin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Cloughjordan eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
