Berach McStephen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Breccan Ramsey in the 10th minute. Rory Lavine's late challenge caught a Derry FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rory Lavine helped the player get up and apologised. Rory Lavine kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Blathmac Tracy during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Rathglass's Blathmac Tracy got a free kick in the 20th minute. Blathmac Tracy hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. After 29 played minutes, Derry FC's Breccan Ramsey shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Berach McStephen came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Derry FC reached it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Darrin Branson in the 30th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Berach McStephen saved Rathglass from getting behind. Rowan McLaughlin was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 34 minutes into the match. Derry FC's Thurl Doyle couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 36th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Rathglass. In the 38th minute, Darrin Branson made a precise shot to the right of Berach McStephen. Rathglass's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Darrin Branson in the 42nd minute of play forced Rathglass's goalkeeper Berach McStephen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Rathglass's Berach McStephen got control of the ball when Darrin Branson tried to sneak it across the goal line.

After 59 minutes, Buach Doherty mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rathglass and the Derry FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Rathglass's Buach Doherty got a free kick in the 59th minute. Breccan Ramsey took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 60th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Berach McStephen. Rathglass's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 62nd minute Darrin Branson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Berach McStephen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Donegal Hamilton took the ball and in the 72 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bannon Doyle. Bannon Doyle dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. 75 minutes into the match, Rathglass's goal looked a bit too open when Breccan Ramsey came free, but Berach McStephen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Berach McStephen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nolyn Todd in the 78th minute of the match. In the 81st match minute, Rathglass was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Buach Doherty to maneuver through the defense. If Heremon McLiam had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 97 minutes into the match, Rathglass's goal looked a bit too open when Darrin Branson came free, but Berach McStephen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Derry FC had played much better football throughout.
