Spectators: 6764 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1764, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Brefni Prunty started the match with the kick off. 8 minutes into the match, Cloonfinnaun's Leon McVictor sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lou McBrand narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Leon McVictor struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Lou McBrand didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cloonfinnaun. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dermod Morrison during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Cloonfinnaun's Dermod Morrison got a free kick in the 13th minute. A long shot from Alan McGlynn in the 14th minute of play was well struck, but Boudibiua McIan made a really good save at the right post. Loughlin Dempsey recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Cloonfinnaun's Loughlin Dempsey in the 17th minute got a chance for a shot 17th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Mace FC's goalie prevented a goal. In the 20th minute Bragain McPhil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lou McBrand saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lou McBrand took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Loughlin Dempsey, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. It was beautiful to see Cloonfinnaun's Biddy McLaughlin in action when he in the 25th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! Lou McBrand showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Loughlin Dempsey, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Cloonfinnaun's zone, Brefni Prunty stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Boudibiua McIan came out of the goal and Brefni Prunty tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Mace FC booed when Cloonfinnaun was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bragain McPhil didn't get a good kick on the ball. 34 minutes into the match, Mace FC's Brefni Prunty sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Boudibiua McIan narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Brann Mullan came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Mace FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Brann Mullan couldn't finish the play. After 40 played minutes Cloonfinnaun got a freekick which was hit by Dermod Morrison. In the 45th minute Leon McVictor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lou McBrand saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The wind increased when Loughlin Dempsey made the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Loughlin Dempsey reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Lou McBrand. The goal made the score 0-1. If Loughlin Dempsey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Loughlin Dempsey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ryley Rogers's late challenge caught a Mace FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ryley Rogers helped the player get up and apologised. Dermod Morrison was shown his second yellow card after 73 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 73rd match minute, Cloonfinnaun was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dermod Morrison to maneuver through the defense. Boudibiua McIan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brefni Prunty, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Brefni Prunty might have been able to make a better finish in the 79th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Boudibiua McIan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Brefni Prunty ran back to his position shaking his head. Brann Mullan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Bragain McPhil received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Lou McBrand tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lou McBrand made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Leon McVictor sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Cloonfinnaun booed when Mace FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gil Caffey didn't get a good kick on the ball. Leon McVictor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lou McBrand having to interfere. Bragain McPhil kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. The Mace FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Cloonfinnaun were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
