Brefni Prunty started the match with the kick off. Casey Coyle blasted a shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Lou McBrand having to make a save. Braoin McPhilip received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Lou McBrand tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 6th match minute, Mace FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Harvey Costello to maneuver through the defense. In the 11th minute, Alan McGlynn hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Casey Coyle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Gavin Cassin charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gavin Cassin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Gavin Cassin kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. In the 17th match minute, Gortnasate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gavin Cassin to maneuver through the defense. If Brann Mullan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Casey Coyle struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Lou McBrand didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gortnasate. A collision led to Mace FC getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Salmon McDecland hit a great ball. Casey Coyle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Casey Coyle received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Lou McBrand tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lou McBrand showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Braoin McPhilip, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. In the 37th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mace FC's goalkeeper Lou McBrand, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Braoin McPhilip fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lou McBrand having to interfere. When Blian McLian fell near the penalty area in the 47th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mace FC's protests and gave Blian McLian a yellow card for diving instead. Blian McLian hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. 48 minutes into the match, Mace FC's goal looked a bit too open when Casey Coyle came free, but Lou McBrand reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Braoin McPhilip made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Braoin McPhilip shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lou McBrand saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lou McBrand made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Braoin McPhilip in the 59th minute of play. Casey Coyle sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Braoin McPhilip's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lou McBrand was relentless in the 62nd minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Mace FC's zone, Braoin McPhilip stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lou McBrand came out of the goal and Braoin McPhilip tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 65 minutes into the match, Braoin McPhilip dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Lou McBrand, 0-1. 71 minutes into the match, Mace FC's goalkeeper Lou McBrand had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Casey Coyle. Braden Gough hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. In the 79th minute there was a penalty for Gortnasate. Harkin McVictor stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Lou McBrand. 0-3. In the 87th minute, Phillip McDonald hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lou McBrand showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Braoin McPhilip in the 90th minute of the match. After 98 minutes of play, Gortnasate's Casey Coyle made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lou McBrand was left in no man's land by his defense there! When the final whistle sounded Gortnasate left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Mace FC.
