Spectators: 6772 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1772, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Reginald McMichel got the match started through his kick off. After 8 played minutes Mace FC got a freekick which was hit by Brann Mullan. Geoffrey O'Down sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 13th minute Reginald McMichel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lou McBrand saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Mace FC booed when Claggan Utd was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Torrey McTom didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 18thth minute of the game Brann Mullan who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Claggan Utd's Duff Doherty was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Salmon McDecland's late challenge caught a Claggan Utd's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Salmon McDecland helped the player get up and apologised. Salmon McDecland hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Duff Doherty took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brefni Prunty, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Claggan Utd fans' excitement grew in the 27th match minute when Claggan Utd's Reginald McMichel looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brann Mullan in the 30th minute of play forced Claggan Utd's goalkeeper Duff Doherty to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Claggan Utd's Reginald McMichel got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Reginald McMichel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a defensive mix-up in Mace FC's zone, Geoffrey O'Down stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lou McBrand came out of the goal and Geoffrey O'Down tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Claggan Utd booed when Mace FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gil Caffey didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lou McBrand made an important save on a dangerous shot by Geoffrey O'Down in the 41st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brefni Prunty in the 43rd minute of play forced Claggan Utd's goalkeeper Duff Doherty to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 45thth minute of the game Brann Mullan who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Claggan Utd's Duff Doherty was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Duff Doherty came out of the goal in the 46th minute to try and stop a shot by Mace FC's Brefni Prunty. But to his dismay, Brefni Prunty quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Brefni Prunty made a kick off. After a rather tough play, Claggan Utd's Darick McIan got a free kick in the 60th minute. In the 63rd minute, Geoffrey O'Down ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lou McBrand was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Claggan Utd's Geoffrey O'Down got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Claggan Utd's zone, Brann Mullan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Duff Doherty came out of the goal and Brann Mullan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 84 minutes Mace FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Blathmac Gough who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Claggan Utd's Duff Hutton to fire away a dangerous shot which Lou McBrand despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After a rather tough play, Mace FC's Braden Gough got a free kick in the 87th minute. Geoffrey O'Down might have been able to make a better finish in the 88th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lou McBrand. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Geoffrey O'Down ran back to his position shaking his head. If Brann Mullan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 98th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mace FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
