Hickey Benson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bardon Cassin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. Hickey Benson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Doney Glen Crowe in the 49th minute of play forced Ballinalack's goalkeeper Bardon Cassin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Derrick McFrank to make the kick off. Bardon Cassin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hickey Benson, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ballinalack's goalkeeper Bardon Cassin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of Aghaville AFC booed when Ballinalack was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Britt Cassin didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 80th minute Duff McPeter shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bardon Cassin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hickey Benson might have been able to make a better finish in the 88th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bardon Cassin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hickey Benson ran back to his position shaking his head. Britt Cassin hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Doney Glen Crowe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Bardon Cassin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Aghaville AFC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
