Spectators: 6765 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1765, VIP seats: 0) Barrie Kirby started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Derrick McFrank recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 2nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ballinalack's Bardon Cassin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Barrie Kirby in the 4th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Barrie Kirby in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Bardon Cassin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Derrick McFrank managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ballinalack's supporters rose to their feet, but Derrick McFrank was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kevinn Colwell breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Driminidy's Kevinn Colwell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Derrick McFrank in the 13th minute of play. Barrie Kirby struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Bardon Cassin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Driminidy. If Donall Costello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Driminidy booed when Ballinalack was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Peadair Crowe didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 20th minute, Donagh Cronin sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Ballinalack's Bardon Cassin didn't even have to move. Donall Costello could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Bardon Cassin made a huge save. Barrie Kirby recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some careless play in the Ballinalack defense, Donall Costello kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bardon Cassin. The Ballinalack fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bardon Cassin should have stopped the shot. Quaid McVictor blasted a shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Kevinn Colwell having to make a save. In the 41st match minute, Ballinalack was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Britt Cassin to maneuver through the defense. If Darby Hunt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Derrick McFrank stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Derrick McFrank fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kevinn Colwell having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Barrie Kirby in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bardon Cassin saved Ballinalack from getting behind. When Darby Hunt fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ballinalack's protests and gave Darby Hunt a yellow card for diving instead. In the 58th minute, Darby Hunt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bardon Cassin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Barrie Kirby in the 60th minute of the match. Barrie Kirby fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bardon Cassin having to interfere. In the 72ndth minute of the game Donall Costello who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ballinalack's Bardon Cassin was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Barrie Kirby in the 73rd minute of play forced Ballinalack's goalkeeper Bardon Cassin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Ballinalack's zone, Barrie Kirby stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bardon Cassin came out of the goal and Barrie Kirby tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 82nd minute, Barrie Kirby ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bardon Cassin was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. In the 85th match minute, Ballinalack was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Derrick McFrank to maneuver through the defense.
