Torrian Hamilton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 8 minutes into the game, Dolan McOliver was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Athboy's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Driminidy the free kick. After a rather tough play, Athboy's Dolan McOliver got a free kick in the 8th minute. 12 minutes into the match, Driminidy's goal looked a bit too open when Donavin Molloy came free, but Kevinn Colwell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Driminidy's zone, Donavin Molloy stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kevinn Colwell came out of the goal and Donavin Molloy tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Donavin Molloy blasted a shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Kevinn Colwell having to make a save. Donavin Molloy struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Kevinn Colwell didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Athboy. In the 20th match minute, Driminidy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bradner McWillie to maneuver through the defense. If Caoilte McNamara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Donavin Molloy in the 36th minute of play forced Driminidy's goalkeeper Kevinn Colwell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Donavin Molloy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kevinn Colwell having to interfere. Kevinn Colwell made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. The Driminidy players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Athboy were winning 0-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Pierce Duggan made a kick off. Kevinn Colwell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pierce Duggan in the 54th minute of play. After having played for 58 minutes, Barrie Kirby managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Driminidy's supporters crossed their fingers, but Barrie Kirby was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 60th minute, Donall Costello got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Driminidy booed when Athboy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bryan Cassin didn't get a good kick on the ball. 69 minutes into the match, Driminidy's goalkeeper Kevinn Colwell had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Donavin Molloy. When Donavin Molloy came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Athboy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Donavin Molloy couldn't finish the play. Donavin Molloy recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Athboy's Donavin Molloy slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Kevinn Colwell. That made the score 0-3 after 83 minutes of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Pierce Duggan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Athboy's supporters rose to their feet, but Pierce Duggan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kevinn Colwell breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Pierce Duggan came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Athboy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pierce Duggan couldn't finish the play. Donavin Molloy was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 94th minute. Athboy's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Athboy had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
