Spectators: 6769 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1769, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Pauric John was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Pauric John took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bercan Byrne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 8th minute, Alex Caffrey got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 11th minute, Heron Horgan reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Shannon Ferguson. The goal made the score 1-1. Heron Horgan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Shannon Ferguson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 14th minute of play. In the 15th match minute, Athnaleenta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Blavock McMichel to maneuver through the defense. Shannon Ferguson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Heron Horgan's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. Beothach Murphy who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 23rdth minute tested the skills of Shannon Ferguson when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Beothach Murphy succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-2 in the 24th playminute. After a rather tough play, Athnaleenta's Blavock McMichel got a free kick in the 28th minute. In the 29th minute, Alex Caffrey sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Athnaleenta's Shannon Ferguson didn't even have to move. With a little luck, Athnaleenta's Shannon Ferguson got control of the ball when Beothach Murphy tried to sneak it across the goal line. Pauric John didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Roordan Sheridan went, in the 34th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. In the 43rd minute, Bercan Byrne left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Athnaleenta fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-4. After the first half Athnaleenta were leading 2-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Roordan Sheridan to make the kick off. After 52 minutes of play, Athnaleenta's Bercan Byrne made it 2-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Pauric John was left in no man's land by his defense there! Roordan Sheridan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Pauric John tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Hollymount FC's Pauric John got control of the ball when Bercan Byrne tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 59th minute Bercan Byrne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pauric John saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 85 minutes, Pauric John successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. 87 minutes into the game, Heron Horgan cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-7. Shannon Ferguson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Hollymount FC's Pauric John played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roordan Sheridan in the 90th minute of play. Roordan Sheridan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Pauric John read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play.
