The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Barram McNamee fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cahir Doherty having to interfere. Herne Robinson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Cahir Doherty tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Roordan McSteve sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Derry McMichel's late challenge caught a Finglas AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Derry McMichel helped the player get up and apologised. In the 14th match minute, Cappavicar was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Derry McMichel to maneuver through the defense. Herne Robinson kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Bressail Moran, 17 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. The supporters of Finglas AFC booed when Cappavicar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Derry McMichel didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Roordan McSteve came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Finglas AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Roordan McSteve couldn't finish the play. Cappavicar's Barley McOliver played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Harrington Quinnless in the 22nd minute of play. Barley McOliver showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Harrington Quinnless in the 26th minute of the match. After 32 minutes, Harrington Quinnless mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Finglas AFC and the Cappavicar players grew even worse after the yellow card. Harrington Quinnless hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. Brenden Rutherford received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Cahir Doherty tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cappavicar's Derry McMichel got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Harrington Quinnless to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Blanaid Todd hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Finglas AFC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Bressail Moran in the 53rd minute. The corner led Finglas AFC's Bressail Moran to fire away a dangerous shot which Barley McOliver despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Harrington Quinnless in the 61st minute of play forced Cappavicar's goalkeeper Barley McOliver to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Roordan McSteve had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
