In the 9th minute of the match Bressail Moran sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Bran Quinnless skillfully saved the ball. Crookstown's supporters crossed their fingers, but Royan Branson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Brant Rogers could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Cahir Doherty made a huge save. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 17th minute of the game. One of Crookstown:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Finglas AFC:s goal. Roordan McSteve received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Bran Quinnless tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 25th minute, Brazil Gough hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cahir Doherty showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Danann Duggan, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. 31 minutes had been played when some careless play by Finglas AFC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Brite Mullan was slow to take the kick. During this time Crookstown's players had a chance to rest. Crookstown's Brite Mullan was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Cahir Doherty in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Brant Rogers's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 36thth minute, Cahir Doherty skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Crookstown's Danann Duggan got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 40th minute, Danann Duggan made a precise shot to the right of Cahir Doherty. Finglas AFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Brant Rogers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cahir Doherty having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Finglas AFC's zone, Brant Rogers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cahir Doherty came out of the goal and Brant Rogers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

In the 53rd minute, Roordan McSteve fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Bran Quinnless, passed just outside the right post. Brant Rogers kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. 57 minutes in the game, Roordan McSteve fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Bran Quinnless having to interfere. Brant Rogers sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bran Quinnless made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Harrington Quinnless in the 64th minute of play. Cahir Doherty took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brant Rogers, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 96th minute Harrington Quinnless shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bran Quinnless saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. There was no doubt that Crookstown were the better team. Crookstown's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
