After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Kerrigan Colwell managed to get in a good position for a shot. Doolin's supporters rose to their feet, but Kerrigan Colwell was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cahir Doherty breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Kerrigan Colwell came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Doolin fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kerrigan Colwell couldn't finish the play. After having played for 29 minutes, Donlan McVictor managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Doolin's supporters crossed their fingers, but Donlan McVictor was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cahir Doherty showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kerrigan Colwell in the 33rd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kerrigan Colwell in the 34th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Cahir Doherty prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 35th match minute, Finglas AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gearard McBrandon to maneuver through the defense. Kerrigan Colwell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Kerrigan Colwell's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Cahir Doherty was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. The supporters of Doolin booed when Finglas AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Derry Doherty didn't get a good kick on the ball. Doolin's Donlan McVictor got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 42nd match minute, Finglas AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Derry Doherty to maneuver through the defense. Finglas AFC's Cahir Doherty played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Donlan McVictor in the 45th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Harrington Quinnless was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute, Gaynor Gollogley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Kerrigan Colwell struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Cahir Doherty didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Doolin. In the 64th minute of the match Derin Mullan shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Artuir Deans showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Donlan McVictor succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-1 in the 74th playminute. Kerrigan Colwell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cahir Doherty having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Finglas AFC's Geary Kirby got a free kick in the 78th minute. Gaynor Gollogley hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. Doolin's Artuir Deans played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roordan McSteve in the 83rd minute of play. In the 86th match minute, Finglas AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Derin Mullan to maneuver through the defense. After 89 minutes Finglas AFC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Brenden McJohnny who took care of the corner kick. A well done corner resulted in Beara McCollion drilling the ball in to score 0-2 behind Finglas AFC's goalkeeper. If Donlan McVictor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 94th minute, Derry Doherty hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Doolin's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
