The supporters of Ballinaspig AFC booed when Strade was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bin Ferguson didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 17 minutes, Bram McNamee managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ballinaspig AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bram McNamee was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 19th minute, Donn Hunt ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Reagan Lester was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 22 minutes into the game, Salmon Hutton recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Enda Cassin. Salmon Hutton showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Salmon Hutton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Enda Cassin having to interfere. Salmon Hutton who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 42ndth minute tested the skills of Enda Cassin when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When Salmon Hutton came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Strade fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Salmon Hutton couldn't finish the play. Bearach McCollion scored 2-2 in the 48th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Reagan Lester, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Salmon Hutton stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience was convinced that Salmon Hutton's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Enda Cassin was relentless in the 79th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brenan Cassin in the 81st minute of play forced Ballinaspig AFC's goalkeeper Enda Cassin to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Berach Gollogley kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. In the 85thth minute of the game Salmon Hutton who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ballinaspig AFC's Enda Cassin was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
