Thanks to some nice moves Bearach McCollion could shoot a difficult shot in the 16th minute, which John Todd however easily saved by the left post. 17 minutes into the game, Edwin McBrand was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Kildare's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ballinaspig AFC the free kick. A collision led to Kildare getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Edwin McBrand hit a great ball. After 18 minutes, Baiscend Myler mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Kildare and the Ballinaspig AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Bearach McCollion sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Donn Hunt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 28 minutes into the match, Donn Hunt dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of John Todd, 1-0. Enda Cassin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edwin McBrand, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Bearach McCollion blasted a shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without John Todd having to make a save. Donn Hunt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Enda Cassin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bardain Dunne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 46th minute Biddy Hunt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Enda Cassin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Donn Hunt made the kick off in the second half. John Todd showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Donn Hunt, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. The audience was convinced that Bearach McCollion's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but John Todd was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. For all the effort they put into the match, the Kildare players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Ballinaspig AFC.
