Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Kildare's Bardain Dunne started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dromahoe's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Gearalt McJames in the 11th minute. The corner led to Dromahoe's Bodibeua McJohnny getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. If Branson Horgan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Berchan Tracy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John Todd having to interfere. In the 28th minute, one of Kildare:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Kildare. The goalkeeper, John Todd, was totally fooled by Dromahoe's Gearalt McJames, who 30 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Branson Horgan struck a weak shot in the 35th minute. John Todd didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dromahoe. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Berchan Tracy made the kick off in the second half. Branson Horgan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John Todd having to interfere. Bardain Dunne sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Biddy Hunt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Donavin Myler having to interfere. Branson Horgan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. John Todd tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 62 minutes into the match, Berchan Tracy had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of John Todd. Kildare's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Berchan Tracy was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. After 70 minutes, Harold Myler mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Kildare and the Dromahoe players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 71st minute there was a penalty for Dromahoe. Gearalt McJames stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving John Todd. 3-1. John Todd stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Berchan Tracy's shot from short distance in the 78th minute. John Todd showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Berchan Tracy in the 85th minute of the match. If Biddy Hunt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dromahoe's Donavin Myler played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bardain Dunne in the 89th minute of play. John Todd had in the 92ndth minute some difficulties stopping Gearalt McJames's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Branson Horgan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John Todd having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Berchan Tracy in the 96th minute of play forced Kildare's goalkeeper John Todd to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 98th minute, Berchan Tracy ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. John Todd was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. Dromahoe walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
