Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Donavin Keegan made the kick off and thus started the match. When Kevis McTommy fell near the penalty area in the 3rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ballydevill FC's protests and gave Kevis McTommy a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Ballydevill FC getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Kevis McTommy hit a great ball. Gil Branson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aaden Cooney having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Painestown's zone, Gil Branson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aaden Cooney came out of the goal and Gil Branson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 18th minute Denny McLian shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donald Colwell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 23rd match minute, Ballydevill FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kevis McTommy to maneuver through the defense. An unexpected shot in the 30th minute by Gil Branson got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Donald Colwell showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Birr McPhil in the 32nd minute of the match. If Gil Branson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Painestown getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Breandan Mulvihill hit a great ball. After having played for 45 minutes, Donavin Keegan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ballydevill FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Donavin Keegan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Denny McLian made a kick off. When Ballydevill FC's Gil Branson, in the 52nd minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Ballydevill FC. Donald Colwell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Denny McLian in the 57th minute of play. The supporters of Painestown booed when Ballydevill FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Coran Ghee didn't get a good kick on the ball. Denny McLian recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 61st minute of the game, Coran Ghee landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. Aaden Cooney took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gil Branson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Donavin Keegan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ballydevill FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Donavin Keegan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aaden Cooney breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 70 played minutes Painestown got a freekick which was hit by Bricin John. A collision led to Ballydevill FC getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Kevinn McNamara hit a great ball. Donavin Keegan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Gil Branson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 90 played minutes Ballydevill FC got a freekick which was hit by Donavin Keegan. A collision led to Painestown getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Denny McLian hit a great ball. 96 minutes into the game, Ballydevill FC's Gil Branson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Aaden Cooney made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Ballydevill FC fully deserved thier win.
