Gil Branson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Berrach Taylor read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 11th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Brefni Ryan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Donald Colwell was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. After 27 minutes, Bradner Branson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ballydevill FC and the Tamlat AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Donald Colwell made an important save on a dangerous shot by Berk Matthews in the 30th minute. When Brefni Ryan fell near the penalty area in the 69th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Tamlat AFC's protests and gave Brefni Ryan a yellow card for diving instead. Donald Colwell took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brefni Ryan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee showed Bourns Barrett the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Tamlat AFC's Bourns Barrett got a free kick in the 97th minute. Ballydevill FC's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
