The supporters of Galbertstown Utd booed when Kilmalkedar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Donlevy McOliver didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard shot 18 in the game by Henry O'Neill from a close distance when the talented Ailín Callaghan managed to make a qualified save. Kilmalkedar's players were relieved. Donald Hughes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Henry O'Neill had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 36 minutes into the game, Torin Ryan cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Donald Hughes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Torin Ryan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Donald Hughes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Donald Hughes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Torin Ryan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 43rd minute Nolyn Caffrey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ailín Callaghan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 45 played minutes Kilmalkedar got a freekick which was hit by Donlevy McOliver. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After a rather tough play, Kilmalkedar's Caroll Doherty got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Torin Ryan received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Donald Hughes came out and tried to block the shot, but Torin Ryan slotted it home off the left post making it 0-3 in the 75th minute. If Caroll Doherty had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Caroll Doherty blasted a shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Donald Hughes having to make a save. Kilmalkedar's Torin Ryan got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
