After having played for 12 minutes, Bram McGlynn managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Knockrath AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bram McGlynn was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that Reilley Ghee's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Paud McJon was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Knockrath AFC's zone, Reidy McIan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bradagain Murphy came out of the goal and Reidy McIan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Brecc Dunne charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Brecc Dunne the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Dundalk Utd booed when Knockrath AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brecc Dunne didn't get a good kick on the ball. 29 minutes into the match, Reilley Ghee had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Paud McJon. Dundalk Utd's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Reilley Ghee was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. The supporters of Knockrath AFC booed when Dundalk Utd was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Baoithin Hutton didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bellaghy Frankson was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 34th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 36th match minute, Dundalk Utd was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Torrans Gillmour to maneuver through the defense. In the 37th minute of the match Bellaghy Frankson sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Paud McJon skillfully saved the ball. Knockrath AFC's Brecc Dunne suffered a sore thigh after 37 minutes and couldn't finish the game. When Baoithin Hutton fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Dundalk Utd's protests and gave Baoithin Hutton a yellow card for diving instead. Baoithin Hutton kicked well hit freekick during the 38th minute of the match. Reidy McIan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 47 minutes into the game, Dundalk Utd's Baoithin Hutton nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Bradagain Murphy made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Reilley Ghee to strike the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Timmons Matthews managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dundalk Utd's supporters rose to their feet, but Timmons Matthews was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bradagain Murphy breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Paud McJon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bram McGlynn in the 57th minute of the match. If Reilley Ghee had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Reidy McIan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bradagain Murphy having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Dundalk Utd's Bairthmead McJohnny got a free kick in the 65th minute. Paud McJon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reilley Ghee in the 66th minute of play. When Reidy McIan fell near the penalty area in the 74th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Dundalk Utd's protests and gave Reidy McIan a yellow card for diving instead. After 74 played minutes Dundalk Utd got a freekick which was hit by Reidy McIan. Timmons Matthews sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Reidy McIan struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Bradagain Murphy didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dundalk Utd.
